Introduction to the Design Process
Design Planning and Process
The invitation is to learn a simple design process that is scalable and adaptable across every area of your life. Chances are you have used it before but perhaps have not clued into its mechanics. With Regenerative Life Design, we’re going to use it on ourselves to bring accountability into focus and create a positive feedback loop when we set out on our life design.
Design Planning in the field includes documentation related to the goals, seasons, estimating, timelines, phase planning, creating a realistic and logical plan that considers all the pieces, observations, analysis, monitoring and evaluation. As we design our ideal and Nature-informed life, these elements propel an honest and sensible plan.
Goals Articulation
This step helps us get out of our heads and onto the paper. Get it down and get it good! By clarifying a set of goals for yourself, you can begin to see trends and layers of potential interconnection. Your statement of intention will help you organize your values, goals, and objectives. It can also support you in evaluating your progress after your experiment or project. It will be of value to you to keep this statement brief and to use present tense and active voice. Example:
“My life provides ample opportunities for growth and self-development. Daily I reconnect with Nature, my body, and myself through self-love practices and dance to yield greater availability of my time and energy in my community.”
Take some time now to draw up your statement of intention.
Assessment, Design & Implementation
At this point in the program, you have done your research and taken a self-inventory to accumulate data and the facts. You have accepted feedback in your life for something that isn’t optimally working, you may have made some necessary changes and hopefully feel more empowered to problem solve design solutions for the components and elements in your life. Congratulations, and how’s it going? And, most important to remember, implementation is your life beyond this program, though the principles already live inside you. By observing and embodying your goals grounded in Nature’s harmonics to achieve your daily tasks and intentions, and working with your ecology of energy and exchange, you will set out strong and resourced to create a more interconnected and vital life.
We will focus on design in Lesson 8 where we will put it all together. Here, you will have an opportunity to consider your goals, your assessment, and analysis questions from the prior chapters to bring forward your life design proposal to be implemented. You are just a few steps away from drafting the design for a more joyful and balanced you!
